Gas Prices and Temps Increase Print E-mail

Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, gas prices are increasing again. This makes it the ninth week in a row that the price of a gallon of gas had increased and experts say there is no end in sight.

According to  AAA Arizona  spokesperson, Linda Gorman, said the increases are not the norm, “This is really unusual for this time of year.” The increase in gas is a result of higher prices for oil. Oil prices are Are $4 gas prices in our future?up 42% since August and may soon be at $100 a barrel. According to Gorman, prices have increased 20 cents in the past month with the average price around $2.86 at midweek.

For even more bad news, the higher gas prices may effect the cost of food and air travel. Both US Airways and American Airlines just upped their price by 20 bucks on some roundtrip air tickets. And as it becomes more costly to transport our food to the grocery store, you bet the increase cost will trickle down to consumers.

You would think that at the very least Mother Nature would cool us off a bit to help ease the frustration of the higher costs of living and supporting our families, but alas, that is not the case. After a nice weekend of cooler weather in Phoenix, temperatures will be back up again with a high of 85 degrees today and a possibility of hitting 90 degrees tomorrow. Up north things are a bit cooler with a high today in Flagstaff at 64 degrees, but Show Low, Prescott and Payson may be in the 70s. This does not bode too well for Sunrise and Snowbowl. Hopefully this won’t be another year of minimal snow for Arizona’s ski resorts.
