AZ Women Business Owners invited to compete for $50,000

A national competition that helps female business owners increase their business revenue to $1 million will hold a Make Mine a Million competition seeks AZ business womencompetetion in Arizona and is seeking entries. Any Arizona woman who owns a company with revenue of $250,000 is eligible to enter the competition. The winner will receive a grand prize package worth $50,000 and includes capital and business advice and coaching.

The competition was created by Nell Merino, founder of the Make Mine a Million business program. The program holds competitions nationwide with the goal, according to Merino, of "inspir[ing] 1 million women to reach the $1 million mark by 2010."

Obama to visit Phoenix

Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama will be visiting the valley this week,obama-to-visit-phoenix.jpg according to a report in Sunday’s Arizona Republic newspaper. The time and location remains an unknown but the Republic was able to confirm with the Obama campaign that the candidate will be visiting Phoenix on Wednesday.

This news comes after the Republic announced its endorsement of Sen. Obama for President. The Republic also endorsed Arizona’s own Sen. John McCain for as the Republican candidate for President, describing him as the “candidate who embodies the only characteristics of Ronald Reagan that really matter in these troubled times - personal integrity and commitment to principle - no other candidate comes close.”
